The Ritz Theaters mission is to create a vibrant professional performing arts venue in the city of Newburgh that revitalizes the local economy, enriches the education of youth, and enhances community pride.
Located on the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street in Newburgh, New York, the Ritz Theater is the last remaining historic theater in the city. Neglect and fire have claimed the others. It is our goal to restore this legendary theater, where stars such as Lucille Ball and Frank Sinatra made debut performances, where Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Prima belted timeless tunes, and where countless memories were made. Our goal for the restoration of the Ritz is to create a venue for live performances, provide employment training and educational opportunities for the residents of our community, and provide a home for local arts and performance groups. By saving and preserving Newburgh’s forgotten legacy for future generations, we will support the city’s cultural rebirth, which is only just beginning.
